not gravy, but much simpler. am's, pm's and alldays. most houses needed a drop and you ran alot of outlets. biggest difference is the amount of hats you have to wear today, back then it was tv and explain the remote, even the old folks could understand that. no jacked pcs to deal with, no phones, no crappy picture on the hd 1080i, no dispatch to call, people waited around for their appointment, you didnt have to call them first and wait around for them to show. smaller cable systems so there was always another gig in town, and you worked for a large contractor if they more than 6 installers. your office was a storage shed, your warehouse was a box of parts the boss grabbed once a week, paperwork was turned in as just complete, reco, new connect or mdu, and how many aos. and the hardest part was knowing where the pay phones were so you could return the call from the pager, usually just your wife wanting to know when youd be done. oh, and the billing was about double what it is today. progress.
