Take a torch and heat 2ft of the entry end of the rod.. pound it into the ground at least 2 to 3 ft.. then Dump a few gallons of Salt water
in the hole.. it will slip in like a horny line dawg in a whorehouse..
I kept a 50# bag of Mortons rock salt on the truck just for that reason
