If in fact the company you signed a non-compete with is no longer performing work for that MSO in that area than you are not competing with them. I once had a company hand me a contract where the non compete cause essentially covered the entire eastern sea board for a period of one year. I told them if you want me to contract to your company and make us both $$$$ no problem, but that they would have to remove that and several other clauses first before I would sign anything. Guess what ???? I never signed any contract with them and continued to work for them for nearly 2 years. Only reason I left was because the system they were working in fell apart logistically.
Also, federal labor laws make it less than legal to impede one's ability to persue their chosen vocation. Non-compete clauses were actually set up to protect a companies trade secrets, and we all know there ain't no effin secret formulas in cable........SO SIMPLE A CAVEMAN CAN DO IT.
