Re: Comcast and Contractors 2009...

Nothing new...this happens about every 20 years. About the time your ready to retire...it will be back to units. Hourly is good for Comcast but not for Contractors. Contractors will "NOW" find out what it is to be a real Contractor in this business. Only way for contractor to be profitable is the ON Site Job Supervisor. Contractors will try a low hourly wage around $10-$12 a hour with some sort of incetive. Your also start seeing the MSO's to tighten up on construction spec's.  It's about time....This industry really sucks, My generation spent many many hours establishing the present day spec's, construction being done today is a disaster. With all the new technology, spec's really need enforced.  Good luck to all of you....Hourly wages should start around $15-$21 for lineman, $18-$25 for Forman $24-$28 for Splicer/Tech.  OH....don't forget- PerDiem which should range around another $8.00 per hour "Worked"  "I love it"  Hourly instead of Units- Now listen to all the Wantabee's  Good luck to all of those tramp linemen out there.  "Tramp"  transient - on the move - cheap motels - cheap food - long hours - always covering the in
Experience of the supervisor on site..  The real workers in this industry.
