Employees yes, but they CAN NOT and DO NOT dictate how people get paid. I work for a company that have been employee based for about 3 years now, and I make MORE than when I was 1099. I still use my own truck I get paid piece rate + travel and expense (legally non taxable)+ benefits ,401k + OT!!!! and since I own my truck the travel and expense is doubled. So I may only get paid $850.00 as an employee where I would have gotten say $1300.00 BUT now roll in the T&E for each job and when the OT kicks in (total week take broken down into an hourly rate for the base) I'm back around $1100.00 but with all the perks...well worth it.
