You only owe taxes on income. You didn't receive the income therefore you don't owe taxes on it. Let your accountant handle it. Either it doesn't get counted as income or it's counted as a loss against income. Either way you don't owe on it.
It's easy to define what you're willing to fight for; but what are you willing to stand for without fighting? What are you willing to lay down your life for?
