It was the Jewish religous leaders that persecuted Jesus. You are left to observe and interpet the Bible on your own. Educate yourself first in History of the languange and the meaning of phrases at the time to understand complete actions and works of it. One direction you can take the Gospels and see how they preached to people and watch how the words of Jesus were changed ever slightly to conform to the people they were preaching to. Christianity was for the jews only jews(thinking myself more of a football coach than a salesman), at the same time you have preaching to the romans saying the religion is for everyone not just the jews(depending on where your detective work takes ya)... Is American and Great Britan fulfilling the prophecy of the Old Testament? Jesus is becoming the Savior of the Jews and Israel by the actions of the US military. In Essence we are enforcing our religious will by force if necessary standing with Israel without circumstance. Right now we are ensuring Jesus is the Messiah.
