JDSU has bundled a lot of stuff into a compact meter. The 2500 dsam cannot sweep the return, you cant inject a analog carrier.
You can do a docsis test and connect to the cmts and see what your pushing out but not really a good idea to try to balance the return. You have the basic dsam meter that is good for an installer. They boot up like a computer so it isn't really a production meter. It has a standby but the battery does not last very long. It is slow in the key functions and everything runs like a computer program. They go all the way to a dsam 6000. You can upgrade it.
The 6000 has many nice functions, web browser, tdr, sweep spectrum, and others as well it is pretty compact.
Again it is more of a maintenance tech meter. Very slow, less than desireable downloading. Put it this way, im glad I got it when I need it but, its always a pain in the ass lol.
The sda 5000 is the production techs meter. If kept updated and taken care of its worth the money.
