I stole Fire House from a mangement text book. Effective managers keep businesses
moving so that at anyone time something is happening. The myth about the bell ringing and everybody jumping on the trucks only happens in fire houses. The rest of the world operates on lead time so that they are paid to set up, paid to operate and.........UPON ACCEPTANCE ...are paid the final amount.
Banks take up the money slack.
When you have an unbankable operation..........you get burger flippers as managers and car washers as techs. Everybody is, of course free to upgrade their skills.
