Re: Door to Door Sales??

For some time, Sales Only contractors, as a rule with very few exceptions, pretty much starve to death. Less than 40% of any sales ever actually get installed in such contracts due to office politics, lack of equipment, scheduling snafus, or an install only contractor that ignores your orders. And you get the crappiest territory none of the in-house sales reps will work. Don't ever take a contract sales only job!

In house sales only associates most times do pretty well but the politics will drive you nuts and there is a lot of feast and famine.

Best option is to contract yourself out as a salesman/instant installer. Make the sale at the door then instantly do the install. Customers love it and you KNOW you will get paid because the sale was installed. One tactic is to sell as much product as you can and then nickel and dime to death the installs (wreck lines when you may not necessarily have to, multiple A/Os, extra boxes, etc.) to ramp up the charges. You'll make up to $300 to $500 on a triple play and instant install. Contract directly as a Prime to do work in rural areas where no big contractors want to work. That way you get the owner's commission. Getting the contracts would be easy and 1 or 2 man crew is all you need for small towns.
