fairness??

I want to discuss something that many of you don't know is going to happen if Obama gets to be president and the Dems get a super majority in the house and senate. They among other freedom robbing moves, want to re-enact the "Fairness Doctrine". It essentially makes radio stations give free time to opposing view points that talk shows make. Since a radio station is using public airwaves this is how they are justifying this. Well the radio station gets a license to operate on the frequency they applied for. Then they pay for the personnel, electronics, transmitters, electricity to run these items plus the lights and heat and building and insurance for all this. They get sponsors to pay for commercials and the more audience the more the commercial time costs. The sponsors are willing to pay more because it means more people will hear their message. So if a talk show host gets popular and sells his show and people listen it is successful. Now the Dems tried talk radio and it didn't work. Not enough people wanted to listen so they didn't get ratings or sponsors and they failed. It is free market. It is a product that is being sold. It has been told to me that it is fair to make radio stations let opposing view points air their views on a station with a host talking about the news if they deem it is endorsing a candidate. It is a show. But the airwaves are public. And the radio stations have to pay for this opposing view.

Now the highways are public. You have to have a license to drive on those highways. You paid for your car and the gas. But because the highways are public and your car is on them.....you should have to let someone drive your car , for an equal time as you are, with gas supplied by you because you have to give equal time to the opposing view. What is the opposing view? The people who can't afford a car or can't get one because the job they do won't support the car. So the government steps in and says you have to let that person drive your car on the public highway. You pay for the car and the gas to transmit the person to the place they want to go. Because you are on the public highway system, which by the way is also paid more by the owners of cars than those that don't in the form of registration, gas and yes even tire taxes.

The radio stations pay for the signal and all that it takes to get it on the "public highway" and they say that the person who can't afford the signal should get equal time to speak their mind even if they don't contribute one dime!! This is fair??. The 'Fairness doctrine" is nothing of the kind. It is censorship and the Dems believe in freedom of speech until someone starts spouting facts or more to the point, a different view from theirs. They want to stop people from disseminating a view that doesn't align itself with all they say. The Dems are not for freedom. They are for control of the people. Not Freedom. Don't let them take our freedom to hear what we want or saying what we want and allowing them to be the only ones who get to do that.
