Digital Network Instructor for Scientific Atlanta

We are currently looking for a talented Instructor to work out of our Atlanta headquarters.

Engineering expertise to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot SA’s networks. Instruct on Scientific-Atlanta’s digital system to SA internal employees and customers so they can become proficient in performing jobs associated with the system. Posses a troubleshooting knowledge level on digital networks. The instructor will also be responsible for inserting system faults, writing a description of the problem, formulate a solution, then designing lab exercises which gives students troubleshooting level experience with the system. This individual will also be responsible for certifying SA internal installers on skills required to install, operate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the system.

Detailed Duties:
· SA networking:
-Equipment installation, provisioning., programming, and operations
-Communications protocol theory
-Configuring network controller (software)
-Physical connection and software configuration of networks
-Working with computer operating platforms: UNIX, Sun Solaris Unix
-Network Management Principles
· Remain knowledgeable in multiple technologies. (SONET, ATM)
· Delivering training classes to customers and SA employees when required.
· Ability to maintain lab equipment.
· Teach software upgrade training and certification..
· Develop certification programs for DSN system installers. Includes hardware and software certification.


Requirements:
· Expertise in communication networking
· Experience with operating a communications type network
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· Exceptional problem solving skills
· Flexible and creative in procuring information

Qualifications:
BS Degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics and a minimum of 5-7 years experience with communications related networks. Cable system experience a plus.
