He is talking about copper/innerduct self support, and not coax. These come webbed onto a 6.6m messenger, usually 1/4", although there is some manufactured on a 6m, or 10m 3/8" messenger.

If the first application was placed correctly, then overlashing can be accomplished with a standard GMP lasher J,G, or even a C if the package is small enough. It works fine, the only problem is when it was placed, it was placed with the loading specs to whatever existing cable was webbed to the messenger. The engineers should be addressing this when the work orders are drawn up. There have been bone head engineers who would like to lash to .109, but were overruled by placing crews who know better.

The story is Verizon east is pulling the backbone through the innerduct, and lashing the distribution over it. Have also heard they are going to overlash the distribution foc on to the existing self support copper. Four more years, and if all goes well, I am out of here.
