Like I said it's for use at a patch panel. Your going to have loss there anyway so if I can take the fiber straight into the connector and then into the panel the loss will be less than fusion splicing a pigtail onto the fiber and then going into the panel. Plus it is a lot faster, you don't have to heat shrink the splice, mount the splice in the holder place the extra 3 to 6 ft of pigtail in the tray. Why go through all that when you don't have to.
