Hey guys thanks for all the replies. I've been up and down thousands of poles. This was the only one that I couldn't fight to get up. Yeah, I could have spent the time and cleared it out. By the way this is Down in SE TEXAS in the "Big Thicket Natural preserve".
But my point is I don't feel it was worth my time. I would rather have them clear it out and let me hook them up another day, which is what happened. I still got the job done and I done it safetly.
I know this is a dangerous job, but done properly you greatly reduce the risk. Also, they do not allow pole climbing here due to a installer getting seriously injured a few years ago.
I've been up alot of tree infested poles, this particular one was just unreal. Unless you were next to the pole you couldn't see the pole, you couldn't even see the power lines, Untill they cleared the trees, I didn't even know if there was a tap.
