You would be amased if you knew how many splicers have made coreing tools out of straight splices...... mostly with 412 plant..
get a brand new .412 coreing tool and start coreing the old cable and have it corkscrew 30ft down the line .. pisses you off real fast.
Get a straight splice and a plillips screwdriver, take the crimp nut off of one end and shrink boot the splice to the to the threads..
take the screwdriver and a bell wrench and bust the teeth out of the SS ... ring cut 1" of the coax take your razor knife and trim the foam to the center conductor .. take your turbo and heat SS and Coax and press & wiggle.. Congrats you have a Core .. slap your built piece onto and roll.. ..
