I grew up the youngest of 8 kids in a very very poor household. Dad worked, Mom took care of kids, and public assistance was considered failure. We had one black and white tv until 1979.
I REFUSE installing satellite TV, internet, or home theatres into Section 8 or public housing. I tell them the truth, "I don't knowingly encourage my tax dollars to be spent on luxuries for the poor".
Of course, I have myself ready to leave immediately, no tools out, no materials opened. I've only done this four times in four years. The work order providers ENJOYED my action and I suffered no recriminations.
I believe until we as a nation restore SHAME upon lazy ass people who suck off the public aerola, they have no motivation to change their lives.
