I used to work for Cox in Tulsa. 8-10 years ago, they were doing service and installs in 3 different time frames: 8-5, 9-6, & 11-8.
On days when you had a few rewires to do to meet spec, you might run that late. I can recall doing service calls up to 10 pm on a few occasions. The first 2 work groups are gone, and the 3rd shift was usually staffed lightly. There is no one left to pick up work from the guys running behind, so you're out there until it's done.
