I have an older Garmin, but I'm not quite ready to spend the money on a map update. The Magellan was a gift. Here's an example of their problems.
This is a trip from Phoenix to Sedona AZ. GoogleMap 85032 ZIP as start point and Sedona as End Point to see what I mean.
I'm on Cave Creek Rd S of the 101 FWY. Best route to Sedona is N to 101, W to I-17N.
Magellan tells me to get on 101 EAST! To 51 South, To I-10 West, To 17 North. That would have taken an extra hour outside of traffic. Add the morning traffic going in to Phoenix and you've got another hour right there.
Of course, I knew better and ignored the Magellan.
Next example: Going from same ZIP code to Prescott. Magellan tells me to take 101W to 17 North. So far, so good. I get going on 17 North, and Magellan says my next turn is 129 miles North of that freeway interchange. Basically getting off at 89 South near Flagstaff and taking it down to Prescott. Uhhhh, how about I just get off at AZ-69 instead?
