There are 2 stories: First being in the old days if someone knocked on your do, a Hoosier would say "Who's ere?" and the second being" a Hoosier who got into a fight and someone found his ear on the floor asked? "Who's ear"? I believe the first one, we Hoosier 's do have an accent that no-one else has.
