compression fittings will keep the moisture out of the back side of the connector but not out of the connector to the splitters. it is required on most t.w.c. systems . sure it doesnt rain IN THE Enclosures , but you would be surprised how many "non-pay" disconnects think that free cable begins at the house box and after tearing the covers off they never get put back on.
