How To Install Direct Path

I'm trying to install cable at an apt that has direct path. I'm sure there was a tap for the cable which led back into the housing for the direct path. I did hook directly into that lead line and did not get anything. I think I tried everything possible and I'm looking for help. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
