Back in the days of CLI using a calibrated dipole antenna, connected to a calibrated pre amp, hooked to a SAM I, we discovered this problem with housing-to-housing fittings. The problem is actually the large O-ring on the main part of the fitting. No matter how tight you made the fitting, there was still the problem of egress, not to mention the wee-wahs it put in sweep response. We were able to correct this issue by removing the O-ring and using RTV sealer to maintain the water tight integrity of the fitting.
