It would also push my transmit over 50. That's always my big thing to avoid. I know that modems transmitting over 50 tend to have shortened lifespans by burning out the transmitters in them. Besides, it would not have dropped the receive enough. That is why I put a 120 foot coil of RG6 behind the modem because attenuation is greater at higher frequencies so I was able to drop the receive by about 6 db while limiting the transmit rise to about a .5 db higher.
However, it looks like they were doing the 1 gig upgrade on my street and everything is back to normal. I took the coil out because it appears they are done and now my levels are awesome. I'm currently at +3 down, +48.5 up and 38 SNR.
