Re: I'm out for good this time

First off, if the VCR is already connected, its probably using one of those scrawny, smaller than 59 push on wires. The MSOs typically want that changed out for something more reliable, so that's another jumper to waste time cutting. The VCRs themselves often have the barrels too close to a plastic housing that makes threading the wire on damn near impossible unless you've got Asian fingers. Then you end up with more power wires than power outlets and you've got to ask the guy if he has a power strip or surge protector, so now you're putting that in. If you're in a market where local broadcasts are on 3, then the VCRs always seem to be as well and then you have to switch them to 4 and the newer VCRs have that either in the menu or if its a Mitsu****ty then its some power off while holding ch^ up or something, but if you don't know it you have to figure it out. Some of the old hats here will tell you about setting up the old ones for VHF/L and VHF/H, etc. with those stupid little tuner wheels and yellow arrows that rotated like a clock. The new ones have an autoprogram but you have to go through that where a TV without a VCR you would be able to skip that step and go right to programming the TV.

I see you're a satellite tech just like me, so for the VCR you're only concerned about channel 3 or 4, but I know where the cable guys are coming from with having to configure two pieces of equipment versus just one.

I'm just glad I don't see any more TVs with 300 ohm terminals.
