Re: I'm out for good this time

I remember picking the band, then tuning in each channel by using either a "diddle" stick or a tiny little dial.

It took a little time sometimes and i thought I should be paid for doing it. it helped the customer and it helped the MSO so i thought being paid per connection was fair.

i didn't bill for VCRs that I didn't do but i did sell a lot of AB switch connections to push my billing. I remember the warehouse complained that I was using too many AB switches; whatever man, that was extra cash every day as far as I was concerned. Five jumpers, and AB switch, and a two way splitter was worth 5.00 a shot so ALOT of my customers got them and GLADLY signed my work order stating that they got it once I explained to them WHY they wanted it; video game connections, record one channel and watch another with a converter box...etc. This was before the days of multiple format inputs on TV and HT becoming mainstream so these things were pretty nifty.

But they DID get them.

There is almost always a way to legitimately push billing on work but blatant falsification of invoices is a bane to the entire CATV contractor industry, in each and every aspect of the business. I really dislike it and I wish everyone would quit.

I also agree that some budget challenged operators sometimes use this as an excuse to cut some billing items but many times it seems that we supply the bullets they shoot us with.

Unethical and inappropriate behavior is everywhere; on both sides.
