I have learned that doing a job that makes money and you happy is actually what the American dream is about. Our parents spoke of getting and education and working hard. I have a degree in electronics was recruited from highschool and paid peanuts. The training that they claimed that they were giving me wasn't worth **** anywhere other than in that company. I realised that the part time security installs that I did while I was in college paid me more than the Fing job I got after completing college. I then went and did cable which started good but ended crappy and put me in problems with the IRS and was struggling to survive. I went to an out of town contract that promised me good money. I came back with a BS weapon charge which is the opposite to Georgia law. This happened because the bastard that ran the contract put us in a motel where the staff were drug addicts and whores kept calling. I wasn't going to leave my weapon in the room for one of the staff to rob and kill someone with my gun and I have to explain where the hell I was. Not to mention I was doing an audit in rough neighborhoods where the dope fiends and dealers are threatening you for diconnecting. This same bastard lost his contract and couldn't pay me or tell me that it was in trouble before I arrived. I wasn't paid for 7weeks of work and he went into hiding. I only survived because I knew how to do other things. I returned to ATL and started at the bottom and the Oriental supervisor that I worked under was doing his best to give me hell for leaving and coming back. I made very little money but Cable gave me exposure to do my own thing. I left that company when they lost 80% of their work. The Oriental bastard did his best to work with his boss to block me out for 90days but they forgot that I saved alot of inhouse managers jobs by fixing their highly escalated issues. So they let me work for a company my buddy and a Cow had started. When cable and the cow I worked for got on my nerves I did some wiring for a Vietnamese bookie and he referred me to a guy who managed a home theater. They paid me by the job which was great in the beginning then 30days later tanked. I then went to SC to be my buddies technical right hand man. We did work for a guy who ripped me off on the a previously mentioned contract and I swore to dismantle him. My buddy was the buffer and payed me directly from his pocket to keep me there and tensions down. I made descent money brought my boys up to live with me for a bit. When things got fishy and my buddy got nervous about the contract I left. My ass was still sore from the first screwing! The home theater company was in a bind. They couldn't provide me with work and they couldn't fire me or lay me off legally. So they found me an hourly job in the company. Now I am a consultant to an Security company as well as work for the federal government. Does it sound like cable contracting is a good idea for a long term career?
