move the comp. to where the modem is...and see what the dif. in connection speen is....if it's dramatic your data line is crapped out
don't forget signal drops according to the distance- that farther away the slowe it will be
another reason is your comp. might be full of bugs / viruses
go to filehippo.com and download avast, c-cleaner, and adaware use the bootscan option with avast....use c-cleaner to get rid of any worm type programs like norton/netzero/aol ect.
you should also be able to go to your isp home page and see how good your signal streangth is\ or give them a call- if it's wildblue just make sure you show all green lights on your svt's and you could also check fittings corrosion grounding and read the cable and make sure it's copper core rated to at least 2.2gz prefrably 3gz with a fun of less than 100ft from dish to modem
