Re: Fiber to the home?

If you just plan to do the install it is really straight forward. One exception is that most designs do not place an enclosure at every pole like a tap. That means you will usually have a few more jump poles. Depending on the ONT/ONU that the MSO is using it's like mounting a SDU box. The powering to the box depends on which ONT/ONU is used. For the rest of the install it is as simple as a jumper to the existing coax network, a jumper to the NID (phone junction) and possibly running cat 5 to a computer or router. If you plan to splice the fiber is it mechanical or fusion? Fusion gets a little pricey if you have idiot's working for you and they drop the machine. The average install without splicing is around 140-200 depending on single, double or triple play install. Add another 100-250 for the fusion splice, depending on re-entry or new enclosure.
