Comcast is "up to date" as you mention in response to this topic. Installing commercial internet, all the tech needs to do is call dispatch and have them send a signal to the modem, and its provisioned right then and there. The reason I believe comcast has the technician to provision the modem is because they want to make sure the customer's email is set up right then and there, and that the customer is educated on the use of the HSI. Also I think Comcast is just too damn cheap, and they know that if the tech has to provision the modem, it may hold them up from making timeframes, resulting in backcharges(OTG), and also it will spread the tech's work day out so that he will be working from morning through late night, which is ridiculous!
