Hope someone can help! I have a HP 8591c that was hooked to a Okidata microline 321 and worked fine. Printing from the rs-232 port with a null modem adapter hooked to a male to male printer cable going to a serial port on the Okidata.
I wanted to try a smaller printer so I hooked a deskjet 550 to the HP and changed the printer settings for a HP black and white printer the baud rate to 9600. I didn't notice what it was on before but I think it was already at 9600.
The deskjet freezes the HP for 4 or 5 minutes when I hit the copy button than nothing prints. I hooked the Okidata back up and now it will only spit 5 or 6 pages of LETTERS when I hit the copy button while trying to print a return trace.
Also if I turn the HP off I sometimes get an error message saying REF UNLOCKED when I turn it back on, which only started when I changed the printer settings.
Any help would be appreciated.
