At first I thought you meant project manager, but then I re-read your post and realized it said General Manager.
Being a general manager implies that you have had some time under your belt in the industry and should know what the going rate is for that position and what the scope of work for that position entails.
Obviously you are still green and should run away from the company you work for, because if they run their business that way, then indeed you are in with a bad crowd my friend.
