Re: any info on vitel communications

I can only say that it is a very challenging market as far as getting good labor, but they are there.

If you can do cable in W. Bmore, you can do cable just about anywhere in the universe. Some of the saddest, most heartbreaking things imaginable happen everyday in that city and it takes a kind of "hardness" to be successful there. I can further say that so many of the guys we've churned through in the almost three years we have been in the market have been guys that just wanted to hook and book, which is NOT going to fly anymore; they couldn't make the change so we couldn't keep them on. They eventually move on to a less "restrictive" vendor if they aren't released by us first.

For ALL it's faults, I like the market. I liked it so much that I converted the company to employee based last year to be a part of the long term plan of transforming Baltimore from "hook and book" to a real technician's work place. It's a huge challenge but the payoff ad upside are so huge that I have to go for it.

Believe it or not, most people don't want to hurt you or rob you; they just want to take care of their own as best they can, even if that means they have to take it from YOU.

"If not for the grace of God, there go I."

I can also state without hesitation that the proportion of bad backgrounds to good backgrounds is very skewed but I can really point to the abject hopelessness some of the youth are overwhelmed by makes them do some less than desirable things to make it through the day. They get pinched young and all of a sudden their world is limited by the big 'F". It's terrible to see and even worse when I can't do anything for them. Some of the guys are so eager for a real job and then....BAM....i can't hire you....you are a felon. What can they do but more crime? It's really heartbreaking.

Anyway, that's my .02 cents.
