I ran into the best hack job yet in New Orleans this last week. I was called out to figure out why the upper floors of a hotel had fuzzy channels, upon walking it out I found 3 Hardline fittings loose, no problem, 2 wrenches and wala still fuzzy. Hmmm, I look a bit deeper and check the drop from the street, problem found. Someone had taled a piece of RG6, stripped back 4 inches of the dielectric to expose a 4 inch stinger, did the same on a piece of 5oo hardline, wait for it, then used an aluminum ground lug from the backerboard, pulled both stingers through it and wrapped it with electrical tape. I will try to post pictures on here if I can get them off my phone. Needless to say, 5 minutes later no fuzzy pictures.
