ADP does our payroll and they apparently disagree with you on this note.
Additionally, the Employer's Associations in NC, MD, and NJ also disagree with you.
I do cable and not payroll or HR, so I defer that portion of the company to the professionals who do that type of work.
The classic cable "back charge" is NOT allowed, however, back charges for over payment are totally recoverable.
The kinds of back charges I'm talking about are craftsmanship related. Additionally, you can also include back charges such as equipment and apparel charges into your employee handbook and that also is legal.
Lost meters, specialized gloves, boots...etc....all chargeable to an employee.
