What a horrible accident. Don't like to see a family suddenly left without a provider. It certainly drives home the point of being cautious at everything we do.
Sturgis, even if OSHA investigates, it will more more than likely rule worker error and no fines or penalties will be levied. If for some reason it does find a willful violation on the part of the employer, the average fine is $32,000 dollars. Once again that is the average fine for a willful violation that causes serious injury or death. That is all we are worth.
In contrast, the FCC fined Viacom $3,500,000 for Janet Jackson's halftime "malfunction". This just shows some boob is worth more than a hard workers life.
