Just think about how your dig box works. In order to process pay per view it needs to talk to a computer at the catv head end. This comp is called a dak. I don't remember what it stands for, any way it does this via a low freq part of the spectrum in the reverse path. well the sat dish box needs to talk back also. Since there is no return path on the common dish it uses a phone line. Its a money generator for the company. Thats why the company wants the phone line in, and also why anyone who runs a phone line for free is a fool. dish and direct are making their money you need to also.
