Sorry but I had to laugh at this one. I worked with a guy that when I made the call to leave a $5000 4" missle under a road he (the owner) came on the job site and was so determined to not leave it behind that he spent $7000 to dig it up and repair the road. We hit an underground spring and ended up 16' down right next to the sewer line. Seven men, 140 manhours,, road closure, clean fill, 12" road base and a 2' cap. Yeah but that's not the worst, we left $25,000 of bore rod, 40,000lbs swivel, and a 24 point pulling bell and 5280' of 1 1/4" duct in the intersection of two concrete capped state highways. The state engineer said that we could go after it but we'd have to improve the lanes at a rate of $250,000..... easy call... but I didn't sleep that night either!!!
