On a higher note, AZ has passed law that requires employers to check the SSA's database through E-Verify. It's mandatory for all new hires. Any business who employs illegals will risk forfeiture of their license and severe penalties. Businesses have up to four years to check their existing employees against the SSA's database. Employers will not be penalized for having illegals up until the end of 07, however, after that they can be penalized even if the person was hired before 08 but was working in 08 or later. The result is this should remove many illegals from the workforce here. Already some 1,000 or so have lost their jobs when asking employers how the law will affect them. The employers wouldn't take a chance since they basically admitted being illegals and fire them.
