I started in cable the first day on an easy route. Day 2 I told the boss to send me with someone who is going to a really crappy area as I don't want to be caught stupid if I get one of those areas without good training. 2nd job was a pole, the tech training me put the ladder up and sent me up there. I went up, didn't feel right and came back down. However, by day's end I could walk up a ladder without hands. That first one sucked because he had that thing at too shallow an angle and he should have hooked the strand and not the pole. Now I use the ladder without any problems, I even use it dangerously.
I imagine climbing would be the same for me. Then again, for a crisp $50, I'd gaff that pole in sandals.
