TIN CAN BROWN BREAD
1 1/2 to 2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1 c. orange juice
1 beaten egg
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
Boil raisins and water for 5 minutes. (Cool some.) Cream together egg, sugar and butter. Add raisin mixture to the creamed mixture. Add juice. Mix well.
Sift dry ingredients together in large bowl. Fold dry ingredients into raisin mixture with wooden spoon.
Grease 4 soup size cans. Fill 1/2 full. Bake in 325 degree oven for 1 hour.
P. S. Fold in vanilla flavoring last before pouring into the cans.
