Comcast raised their CAPEX by 5% for 2008.....they also raised contribution margins. The additional CAPEX will for the part be spent on DVR's, maximizing bandwidth, etc. (revenue producing purchases) and take advantage of the CAPEX depreciation expense over the life of the purchase.
For the most part Comcast, TWC and Cox already have the bandwidth to support the additional data traffic on the network with the deployment Voice, IPPV and HSD.
The company I work for has already completed "node segmentation" last year for Comcast and with the "switched video" technology on the horizon, CAPEX funding for network up-grades look bleak for 2008.
Just my outlook for 2008 CAPEX spending......
