If 1 company changing their rates is cause for you to move to another state, you probably aint no contractor. Contractors are supposed to set their own rates. You guys were non-tax paying employees, which is one of the things this law is attempting to put to an end.
1099 in cable/sat is nothing more than a scam, especially in Chicago. Guys report to work everyday at a specified time. They have jobs scheduled for them. Companies are providing training for these "so called" contractors. Its just gotten ridiculous. The damn HSP here actually routes the subs. The company who has the contract with the HSP cant even route their own techs. The HSP does it. Its just ridiculous.
Im from Il, and Im happy this bill got put into law. I have wrote the Governor and both Senators about this topic in the past. Instead of leaving, grow a backbone. How about demanding a fair days pay for fair days work, with-in a LEGAL work enviroment. Part of cleaning up this industry is creating an industry with a legitimate working enviroment. This is your trade too!!!!
No more of the legal illegals, which is what false 1099'ers are in my book.
