my kids got swats from. But just swats. Enough to let them know they messed up. I believe in discipline not abuse. As kids get older there are other ways to discipline them that mean more than physical or corporal punishment. So don't worry about judgements from me for spanking. I got spanked and it worked when I was the right age. As I got older other means came into play. My kids are great. They are not perfect but their parents (me and my wife of 24 years) stay on top of what they are doing. They don't always like it but they know we give a damn. We tell them so. We tell them we know where they are even if they don't believe it. We tell them we love them and treat them so. Discipline is expected from children. I heard one of my kids' friends say after I scolded one of mine...."that's what I need...discipline"...she actually said it! I couldn't believe it but then I did. Good job!!
