SA 6940 Node Return set-up

My question is where to place the padding in the return. You can get the same numbers so to speak many different ways but which is correct? I'm currently placing most padding on the rf out of reciever.This cant be correct I'm sure although it does work, can someone shed some light on this? Does anyone know the numbers should the light be padded or the rf to the transmitter or as I suspect a careful combination of all three I dunno my head hurts I bought these refurb and they didnt come with a tech sheet.
