Re:sweeping old style mag

I am in total agreement with TechCon. Also remember that Eqs that are at a higher frequency than you want to have for a passband (440Mhz Eqs yet only want to pass 360Mhz) will have higher insertion loss at 360Mhz. As an example, a 360Mhz high value Eq may have a loss of 1.5db at 360 Mhz and 20db at 54 Mhz. Well a 440Mhz Eq may have a loss of 1.5db at 440Mhz and 20db of loss at 54Mhz but it will also have a loss of maybe 6db or higher at 360Mhz. That means unless you use higher gained amplifiers to offset that loss, you will have more noise at the end of your cascade. Also remember that you cannot see 440Mhz with 330Mhz or 360Mhz amplifiers so the sweep is only showing you the middle of the response curve of a 440 Eq which may cause excessive peak/valley. Suggestion, is to either get 360Mhz Eqs, higher gain amps that pass 360Mhz or wait for 750Mhz as you indicated. Good Luck

>we are in the middle of a upgrade, from 330 mhz to 750mhz. but here is my problem please help. we have 330-A trunk modules but we are pushing the system to 360mhz. we are using 440 eq's and some of the trunk runs are 20 to 28 amps deep. we are getting a sag in the middle of the spectrum that is a real pain to keep out.bumpers as we call them seem to help a small amount and sometimes not at all.any suggestions can't wait till the new is here 750mhz is much easier to sweep.
