I do sales and installs and it is true and you don't even have to be a superstar to make that much money. Actually that is just a tad above average. I am over 200,000 for the year but that is out of the norm. I try to find the really good jobs that pay high and you don't collect. Most I ever did was 20,000 in two weeks. I had to work 14 days straight and 12 hours a day. In northern Cal I dont think there is a reap making less than 70,000. You also have to go in-house because most contractors don't pay as much as in-house will. Hope this helps!
