Sorry if I came off defensively, but I think you are missing my point; I don't DISLIKE the 1099 business model.
I dislike the practice of companies picking and choosing the way they treat their labor.
Let me be clear: If you run 1099, then follow the guidelines set forth by the Federal Govt.
If you run employees, follow the rules....ALL of them.
It's VERY difficult to run a 1099 installation company and adhere to all the rules covering the working relationship, but I think it can be done. These days, the MSOs and the insurance companies are just not willing to play the game anymore.
The MSOs are, or should be afraid of co-employment, thus they are forcing ALL vendors to go employee based. It's a trend in the industry that isn't going away.
