The original plant ( where the strand/cable is framed ) was built off hooks, we didn't start seeing bucket trucks until around 1980, then it was used "JUNK". therefore from late 40's till 80's. It was "ALL" off hooks. Strand/cable was usually not a problem
but getting the loops for splicing sometime meant one safety strap end hooked around strand and the other end in one of the d rings on the belt. Same with overlash over existing loops. ONE D RING Old Dawg Linemen.. Oh the good ole days !!!! Same with climbing the set up pole with Lasher hooked to your belt. Try pulling our 13 cables at once, all off hooks. These Clumb some linemen of today "HAVE NO IDEA" of what a lineman is made of.
