44 years ago installers had to climb, were expected to wire 7 or 8 houses a day, were paid $1.25 an hour and were considered inferior to linemen. In those days there were no grounds, set top boxes, very little insulation in attics, and people really liked the cable company. My first job in Austin,Texas we had to cut in pressure taps on strip braid cable,I still remembering water running out of the tap block after coring.Lots of thing have changed but one thing hasn't if the cable drop is not put in right all the fancy line work, engineering and fine equipment isn't worth squat. He is the one that most customers see . If he leaves a bad impression, the cable company is bad.44 years ago there were guys lined up for the $1.25 ,things have changed.Chuck
